Trish Morris entered the House of Lords in June 2004
and joined the Conservative Front Bench as a whip in
September of that year. In June 2005 she was appointed
Shadow Minister for Children, Young People, Families
and Women. She is Vice-Chairman of the APPG on Breast
Cancer and a Patron of OXPIP (the Oxford Parent Infant
Project).
She led for the conservative benches on the Childcare Bill and Children
& Adoption Bill, and worked closely with Lady Miller
of Hendon on the Work & Families Bill which have
been in front of the House this session
Prior to entering the Lords, Trish was Vice-Chairman
of the Conservative Party with responsibility for candidates.
She instigated and then oversaw fundamental changes
in the selection procedure which has made the process
more professional and broadened the range of people
selected. Trish was herself a parliamentary candidate
for Oldham Central and Royton in the 1992 General Election.
Trish lives in Bolton and has always been involved in
her local community. She is a Governor and Trustee of
her old school, Bolton School, and is a former Director
of Bolton Lads & Girls Club. She served as Deputy
Chairman of the Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Trust for
four years from 1993 to 1997 and was an advisor to the
Abbot of Ampleforth from 1998 – 2004.
She is a life long supporter and season ticket holder
of Bolton Wanderers.
